Welcome to Lochmaddy Marina

Lochmaddy Marina is located on the edge of the town of Lochmaddy within the Isle of North Uist, in the stunning and unique Western Isles.
The marina was built through significant efforts by members of the local charity Comann na Mara (Society of the Sea), delivering on the vision of the late, much loved and former G.P. from Lochmaddy, Dr John A J MacLeod.

Lochmaddy Marina was opened by HRH Princess Anne in September 2014. The marina offers a much needed facility to local people and travelling sailors alike, offering safe berthing in all but easterly and south westerly squalls.

Comman Na Mara was the first body in the UK to secure Local Management Agreement (LMA) for community control of a section of the seabed from the Crown Estate. Dr John’s vision ensures that this facility offers an excellent gateway to the remainder of the Western Isles and beyond.

Visitors have the benefit of competitive berthing rates, a great location, water, electricity and WiFi (coming soon). This is all available by viewing our pricing and paying us online either by PayPal or direct bank transfer. Local facilities including the very close by Lochmaddy Hotel, offering excellent dine in and takeaway food, 7 days per week (<1/4 mile distance). The fuel pumps (<1/2 mile distance) – offering both petrol and diesel – are within easy access of the marina. Other places to eat are listed on the North Uist page.

There are additional shower, toilet and laundry facilities based on shore, just at the marina entrance. They offer clean facilities, noting that they are only available to paying guests and are still a work in progress due to the ongoing pier works. Add a local shop, a museum, and cafe within easy walking distance – and the travelling sailor has all that is needed for a comfortable stay within Lochmaddy Marina.

Lochmaddy Marina is now run by Lochmaddy Marina Ltd (LM), a private company who have ambitious long term plans for the marina along with the continued promotion of the town of Lochmaddy and the Isle of North Uist itself. Lochmaddy Marina intends to compliment Dr John’s vision and continue to ensure that this facility offers an excellent gateway to the remainder of the Western Isles and beyond.
